# Godot Game Pack — README

Build your first real game in **Godot** — a full game engine, MIT-licensed,
free forever, no royalties, no seat fees — with the harness discipline
wrapped around it so the AI helping you doesn't wreck the project by
week two.

## The route

1. **Get the engine** (one download, ~78–171 MB depending on platform):
   - Windows: https://godotengine.org/download/windows/
   - macOS: https://godotengine.org/download/macos/
   - Linux: https://godotengine.org/download/linux/
   - All platforms: https://godotengine.org/download/
This pack targets the current stable **Godot 4** line (written against
4.7.2-stable, Aug 2026). Do not mix Godot 3 tutorials or code into a
Godot 4 project — the APIs differ and that mismatch is a classic
AI-build failure. The engine itself is MIT:
   https://github.com/godotengine/godot/blob/master/LICENSE.txt
2. **Answer the game clarifier** (`game-clarifier.md`) — six questions,
   answered BEFORE the project exists.
3. **Freeze the acceptance** (`acceptance-template.md`) — what "playable
and done" means, in checkable sentences, frozen before building.
4. **Build under the scene discipline** (`scene-discipline.md`) — the
rules that keep a Godot project out of the fix-one-break-another loop.
5. **Export to the web** (`export-to-web.md`) — one honest warning there:
the export templates are a one-time **1.28 GB** download inside Godot.
After that, exporting is a button.

## What BAH does NOT ship you

The engine. It's a 78 MB+ download from Godot's own site — the links
above are the route, and they will always be more current than any copy
we could host. What this pack ships is the part the engine doesn't come
with: the questions, the frozen bar, and the change discipline.

## Pairs with

- **Kenney First Game Kit** (Forge) — CC0 art + sound in one consistent
family, so your Godot game doesn't look like five games.
- **Publish Your Game** (Forge) — the export from step 5 becomes a public
itch.io page with a link your friends can play.
